NBC Webinar

Registration for the NBC Webinar is currently closed.

RAIC Emerging Practitioners (RAIC EP), is pleased to offer webinars on Part 3 and Part 9 of the National Building Code of Canada (NBC). These courses are designed to bridge the path between architectural education and practice; providing practical knowledge and experience aligned with the Internship in Architecture (IAP) program’s requirements.

2019 NBC Part 3: Date TBD

2019 NBC Part 9: Date TBD

A limited number of attendees will have the option of live attendance at the venue from which the webinar will be broadcast.

Individuals attending these webinars must have at least a novice understanding of the NBC. These webinars are designed to simplify the Code and be taught as an introduction to the NBC, in order to assist interns in preparing for their exams. These webinars are not designed to discuss varying interpretations of building design applications, as they may relate to the Code. Each session will provide a wealth of information condensed into a six-hour format.

NBC Part 3 Fire Protection, Occupant Safety and Accessibility

Held for the first time in 2016, the RAIC EP is again offering this webinar on part 3 of the National Building Code.

This course is taught by Jensen Hughes Consulting Canada Ltd., the leading name in safety and risk-based science in Canada.

The learning objectives of this webinar are a reflection of items 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 and 5.5 (as outlined in the ExAC General and Specific Objectives Guideline).

NBC Part 9 Housing and Small Buildings

For the first time in 2018, the RAIC EP offered a National Building Code Part 9 webinar.

It was presented in partnership with Vortex Fire Consulting Inc., who specialize in providing independent building code and fire engineering consultancy services. The session will be presented by Vortex, and has been prepared by Leszek Muniak, a building code and fire protection consultant for over 35 years.

The learning objectives of this webinar are a reflection of items 5.4.1 through 5.4.4 (as outlined in the ExAC General and Specific Objectives Guideline).

Each participant will be awarded a certificate of completion of the webinar session, of which, if applicable, could be used toward their designated association education credits (six credits each).

The ExAC is an experience based exam. It is the practical application of knowledge acquired through education and readings that will support examination success. Taking these courses without applying the knowledge gained through practice may not result in examination success.

These courses are organized by the RAIC EP in partnership with Jensen Hughes, Vortex Fire Consulting Inc., and Leszek Muniak. Neither the webinars nor the content of the courses, have been reviewed or endorsed by the CExaC (Committee for the Examination for Architects in Canada). Connections between learning objectives and the General and Specific Guidelines of the exam are for orientation purposes only and in no way reflect a comprehensive exploration of the subject.
